Recognised Prior Learning (RPL)
Recognition of Prior Learning is a process that recognises an individual’s current skills and experience regardless of where and when the learning occurred. Applications for RPL are based on whole competencies. Candidates can base their application on any combination of formal or informal training and education, work experience or general life experience.
Applying for RPL
To apply for Recognition of Prior Learning students will need to provide supporting evidence.
Evidence may include:
- Interview/conversation with our Trainer and Assessor
- Supplementary assessment tasks or challenge test – oral, written or practical
- Assessment where no training is involved
- Scope of works declaration detailing work activities you perform
- Authentication of evidence and work activities by industry qualified supervisor or employer
- Observation and questioning including workplace visits
- Portfolio of work, which may include completed assessment items from previous study
To apply for Recognition of Prior Learning, please complete the NTI Application Form and submit your supporting documentation to the NTI admissions team through the Online Application Process. NTI will advise you if further evidence is required by you in order for you RPL assessment to be complete.
Workplace training involves an NTI trainer delivering the training at the candidate’s place of employment. NTI is flexible and works with the candidate and their employer to ensure training is delivered in a way, at a pace and to a timetable that suits all parties.
